 Then finding out how much fun 40's were. On Saturday at 10am the guy at Discount Tire finally got the tire to seal. Larry ran home, finished loading supplies, and pointed the SUV towards Austin on its maiden voyage. Of all the things he forgot to check on the car, the one that stood out most was the A/C. They do not call it HeatWave for nothing. Larry and the kids drove to Austin with the windows down and the radio blaring. After getting to Round Rock at about 2pm and sitting in the line for hours, only to be turned away due to over-crowding.

 The little truck held up to the heat but they figured out soon that he needed more cooling off. Thank God for the folks who gave them some drinks to help out. They made some new friends in the long lines. Larry ended up driving to La Grange for the evening, and returned early the next morning to register. It was good for them; turns out he had won Best Mini and Best Pearl. Larry was blown away. It was a happy but very hot trip home for Larry and the family.
