Some people say they have used sawzalls, nibblers, power metal shears, and cutting discs. Whatever you choose to do remember to cover your interior so that the metal shavings and sparks don’t hit anything that you don’t want them to. Especially your windows! After cutting the center section of the roof out remove the piece from the car and begin fitting your frame assembly. Because of the angle of roofs in most cars you will have to cut stress reliefs in the frame assembly to be able to bend it to fit the roof.

Otherwise the rag top will stick up in the corners and won’t fit at all. The reliefs will need to be cut an inch apart along the outside of the rag top frame. You will then be able to bend the frame assembly to fit the contour of your roof. The roof was then fit again and removed. Once you have your final shape and are ready for the top to go in there are some steps you should do before hand.
