It's the middle of December and I'm pondering the next step to take with my truck. Which body mod would come to mind as the next on your car or truck? Well for me, it was a large sliding ragtop from Street Beat in Phoenix, Arizona. By the way, I am from Phoenix too, so a hole in my roof at this time of year isn't so insane. It can be used 90% of the time. To get things started, I met Seth at the shop so he could take some measurements. I told him that I wanted the LARGEST possible ragtop installed on my Tahoe. My wish was his command as the next thing I knew Seth ordered a custom, black 43"x90" manual slider, complete with a red headliner and billet handle to finish the installation quite nicely. I had Seth leave the frame bare-aluminum so it could be polished at a later date. Normally, it would be powder-coated black. Nearly three weeks later, the ragtop was complete and waiting for me, so I headed over to spend the day with the staff at Street Beat Customs. Upon arriving at 9am, the crew was standing around, ready to pounce on the install. They had previously cleared the schedule since this particular install wasn't going to be quick. I was doing pretty good right up to the point that they were actually cutting the opening in my roof.

At that point, the thought crossed my mind just exactly what a permanent mod this is. But, the installer, John, reassured me that everything was going to be just fine. And it was just fine. The folks at Street Beat really know what they are doing. John finished up around 7p.m. He was probably sick of my Tahoe by then, but the job was super clean. As for me, I was so happy that I left with top open. As a matter of fact the only time it is shut is when it is parked. This is definitely one of the coolest mods for cruising the boulevard. If you are lazy like me, there is a lot less roof to wash and wax. I want to thank Seth, John and Rick at Street Beat for a great installation as well as excellent customer service. Thanks Guys!
