As a big fan of this body style of Toyota, getting a hold of Nathan and getting everything worked out for a photo shoot was a fairly easy decision. At the age of 25, Nathan has been interested in the sport since Jr. high. After previous build-ups such as an '84 Toyota standard cab longbed, '94 Toyota standard cab shortbed, and a '97 crew cab dually, Nathan was ready to build something from the frame, up. The build up would take about 3 ½ years and a lot of duckets, but when you can pick up a ride to start on for only 3 thousand, that makes things easier. Looking over Nathan’s Toyota, you would think that it is complete. But, if you ask him, he’ll give you the answer, “yeah right, this truck will never be done." The reasons for Nathan building this you ask? Well, just for the pleasure and for something to take to shows.
In order to become a dominant force on the show scene, you are going to need body mods. Nathan held nothing back in this process. In doing so, there were many things that just couldn’t stick around. Some things that had to go were the handles, locks, door mirrors, tailgate handle, cowl vents, hood squirters, antenna hole, front marker lights, front bumper/blinkers, rear cargo light, gas door, body seams and even the vents behind the door windows where replaced with sheet metal. Also, to change the look of the rear, a roll pan was welded in along with a frenched in license plate box. To finish off the rear end, the use of clear taillights with chrome housings were used.
To cover the bed, Nathan contacted Checkmate for a bed cover. In order to give the front a mean look, Nathan went with a '94 2wd Toyota bumper sectioned to fit along with a '94 4-Runner valance and CNC cut flames for front blinker/parking lights were added for a true one-off look. This combination matched up nicely with 4x4 front fenders.
To accent the new front clip, a Trenz polished billet phantom grille was added. Now, being from California and getting tons of sun, it seemed only fit to cut the roof and add a Britax sliding ragtop with a chrome frame and track. Along with the bodywork, Nathan had the door latches chrome plated and also purchased Trenz billet wiper covers.
