First of all, I guess I should explain why I haven't written in a few months. I've been contemplating on several things going on in my life. One of the things I have been thinking about is I may finally get around to writing the book that I've been thinking about for several years (yeah, I know, it's kind of geeky....). The second thing that I've been thinking about is what direction my life is headed. I guess this comes naturally as the birthdays that start with 2's grow fewer each year. The third thing that has occupied my mind is what has finally prompted me to get off my ass (or rather, sit on my ass...) and write this article. I get this funny feeling every year about this time. I get really excited about the upcoming show season.... I know that there has already been a couple of shows but not any that I go too. I'm adding some shows this year to our calendar and I'm freakin' excited at the prospect of meeting new people and chillin' with old friends. I guess I'll start with Showfest in Greenville. I've never been to this show, partly because it coincided with a show that we liked to go to in New Jersey. I'm ecstatic at the idea of being able to attend this year. I hear it's a great party and lots of fun at the show too. I guess that I'll be letting you know later on how it goes. Then, there's the Minitruckin' Nats in Pigeon Forge, (to be or not to be...that is the question) which is an old show for us. Texas Heat Wave, as many of you know, is always at the top of my list. I know that most people have a strong opinion, positive and negative, of this show, but I must tell you, it still surprises me every year with the quality of rides that are there and how much it grows each year. I think that David McDonald (the show promoter) really listens to people's gripes and tries to make it that much better the next year. I also think this is one of the reasons that this show is THE BEST SHOW IN THE MIDWEST. After that, there is a show that I attended for the first time last year. It's called Fallout and it's held in Amarillo, TX. It's a show that, to me, represents what is good in all Minitruckers. It's a benefit show, held entirely to benefit children. It's a great weekend, with lots of fun, lots of beer, and lots of, well, you know, the wet t-shirt thing and all. In November, there's Slamfest.

I guess the reason I like this show so much is because I don't have to work when I go to it (at least I didn't have to last year). It lets me really remember what it's like to be able to sit back and chill with my clubmates, party all night, sleep half the day at the show, and not worry about taking one single picture if I don't want too. In fact, last year, my Nikon stayed in its bag!!! There are lots of shows that we go to in between all these, but these are mostly my favorites. Oh yeah, I can't forget about East Coast Nats. That's the show that I get to hang out with my "northern" friends and I don't have to drive 16 hours to Jersey to do it.... I guess the only way to really wind up this month would be to remind you guys that these promoters work their ass's off all year long to give us memorable weekends. They are the ones that secure the venues, B.S. with the motels so we can get decent rates even though some tear up their rooms every year, work with the vendors to make sure there's plenty of stuff for us to ogle, recruit people (um, I mean, girls) for the bikini contests to give us plenty to drool over, try to find good deejays so we have cool tunes all weekend, and on top of all that, kiss some pig booty so maybe they won't be so hard on us while we are in town. I think we don't really think about this enough when we are at shows. So do me a favor this year, will ya? Try to act your age and still have fun. If you see one of the show promoters, yell "Thank you" as he's running off to fix the newest problem, okay? Have a great show season. I wish you many trophies, many successful "Show me your tits" campaigns, and many, many blissful nights of Draggin' frame..........Brandi
