Larry took it to a friend's shop (Taylored AutoWerx) to assess the situation. For 10 months Larry spent available nights working on it. Larry would go to the shop on many Friday evenings and work till his wife called him in the morning to come home. Larry is an insomniac and playing with cars is therapy for him. He actually built a custom dune buggy the same way. Larry bought the Jimmy with plans of having it streetable in about 2 months. After being in the paint and body industry for 21 years, he thought he knew just enough to get the job done. There was just so much to do. Larry's biggest challenge was finishing the graphics. The graphics on the roof, grill, front bumper, air dam, fan shroud and all the doorjambs and posts were left unfinished at the time.

The interior was still in the old paint scheme. It may not be apparent when you look at it, but the diamonds in the graphics are individually sprayed. They are inside and around every doorjamb and post. Larry masked and unmasked the graphics so many times; he says he can do it in his sleep. Having hung and unhung the doors so many times by himself, his arms managed to get bigger in the process. After 7 months the graphics were complete and the yellow pearl was ready to be sprayed.
