D.R.A.G Fest
D.R.A.G Fest has become one of those shows that never intended on being a yearly one. It started out its first year as the Danny Rowe Show. D.R.A.G. stands for Danny Rowe Annual Gathering and is held in Watkinsville, Georgia. This is the second year for this show. The original one was put on by Acrophobia to help out the family of one of their members who had passed away, Danny Rowe. After seeing how well that show turned out and how much support was given to Danny and his family, they decided to hold the show again and make it an annual thing. This time around they directed their proceeds to Toys for Tots. There was no judging, no trophies and no classes at this show. There wasn't even an entry fee. All that was needed was at least a $10 unwrapped toy. Those toys were given to Toys for Tots to help out needy needs for their Christmas.
Being that this show was only about 2 or so hours away, I got up with a few people from town and headed down. I started my day meeting up with one of my fellow club members and a buddy from Camber at the local Waffle House. Once near the show site, it was time to find a car wash. After getting directions, which would up getting us lost, getting the rides clean, and got on track back towards the show, we realized that there was a car wash less than a block from the show. LOL After getting into the show and hanging out with a few people for most of the day, it was time to head back home. We went down the road to the gas station to fuel up and wait on slow ass Terence (Aka: Whitey from Pebble Pushers) to load up his car on the trailer. While waiting I noticed in my rear view mirror someone messing with one of the car from another chapter of my club, Xtreme Lowz, across the street at a restaurant. After watching for a minute and realizing that it was NOT the owner of the car, I pointed it out to the guys with me. At that point, the owner of the car came out of the restaurant and the "kid" messing with the car threw up his arms and took off running. I hopped out of the car along with my buddy Wes, and chase pursued. Us along with the whole other chapter, which was with that car, ran after the kid and his buddy. Come to find out, he had poured a cup of Coke on the hood and was trying to push out the mesh in the front bumper. Luckily the "kids" were saved a butt whipping by a passer-by who knew them, so the cops were called and the kids' parents were called to come get them. Needless to say, I felt sorry for the kids when they got home! LOL NOT!!!!
Once that little ordeal was over and we got on the road, we stopped an hour or so down the road to grab a bite to eat. Which we almost got kicked out of the restaurant for harassing the staff. Then when I thought we almost had it made and were about an hour from the house, BAM, I broke an air cylinder. When it broke, which I was running about 85mph, the wheel cambered in and destroyed the tire too. Luckily, if that's what you want to call it, one of the guys that was with me had a truck and trailer at home cause he had decided to drive his car to this show. So Wes and me sat on the side of the interstate in the middle of nowhere for over 3 hours while Stayhad (Chris) and Denny drove back home and hooked up the trailer and made the trip back to where my car sat broke. Needless to say, a 2 hour trip turned into about a 6 hour trip, but we made it home about 1 am and unloaded my car off the trailer and called it a night.
Even though I had one heck of a trip back home, I'll still make it back to this show next year because it's for a good cause. Nothing like helping out kids who wouldn't have anything for Christmas. For more info on next years show, go to www.Acrophobia.net.
