THE ORIGINAL SELLING FORD DEALER PLACED THE SHELBY BACK ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR WHEN TRADED BACK IN ,WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED BY THE MOST RECENT REGISTERED OWNER IN DECEMBER 1968, (ALL THE DEALER PAPERWORK IS INCLUDED) BEFORE LEAVING FOR VIET-NAM ! LUCKILY HE MADE IT BACK IN ONE PIECE, AND DROVE THIS SHELBY UP UNTIL 1984. THEN HE MOVED NEAR ME HERE IN FLORIDA, AND TOOK THE CAR APART, STORED MOST OF IT IN THE GARAGE, THE SEATS, HARNESSES,CONSOLE, CARPET, ETC. AND NEVER PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. THAT'S WHERE I COME IN, AFTER SEEING IT 19 YEARS AGO ON A U-HAUL BEFORE HE HID IT ,I DROPPED IN ON HIM 3 YEARS AGO AND AFTER ALOT OF NEGOTIATING, I LEFT WITH IT ON A FLATBED! I HAVE SPENT THE LAST 3 YEARS RESTORING THIS SHELBY TO IT'S GLORY DAYS. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT A POINTS CAR, IT IS A SHOWSTOPPER! THE CAR HAS IT'S ORIGINAL UPHOLSTERY ( DRIVER SEAT CUSHION SEAM SEPARATED SINCE RESTO), SEATBELTS, HARNESSES, SHELBY CONSOLE, GUAGES, TILT WHEEL, ROLLBAR, HOOD, DECKLID, SCOUPS. THE 428 HEADS WERE UPGRADED BY THE OWNER AT A FORD DEALER IN 1969 WITH SCJ HEADS.
I HAVE THE HEADERS THAT WERE ON IT, BUT I DID LOCATE THE CORRECT EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, AND NEW EXHAUST TO MATCH, AND THEY ARE NOW INSTALLED. THE POLICE INTERCEPTOR HAS BEEN FULLY RESTORED, AND ALSO HAS THE CORRECT ALUMINUM INTAKE. I HAVE THE CARB THAT WAS WITH THE CAR, BUT COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK RIGHT, IT NOW HAS A NEW HOLLEY, I COULD NOT LOCATE A NEW OIL COOLER, SO IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE PRESENTLY. ANY EXTRA ORIGINAL PARTS THAT WERE IN POOR SHAPE WILL COME WITH THE CAR. IT HAD 4 SHELBY HUBCAPS WHICH I HAVE. EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WORKS, INCLUDING THE INTERIOR AND TRUNK LIGHTS, WITH EXCEPTION OF THE AUTO TILT AWAY AS THE DIAPHRAM LEAKS, ALTHOUGH IT DOES WORK MANUALLY. I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THE CAR LESS THAN 1 MILE SINCE RESTORING IT, IT RUNS BETTER THAN NEW!
