On April 23, Animated Attractions Car Club presented the 11th annual Slammsession Supershow in conjunction with Jawdropper Promotions. The show was held at the Pitt County Fairgrounds in Greenville, NC. This was my first trip to Slamsession, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was hoping for a killer show – or at least one that was worth the four-hour drive.In case you lived under a rock or something, and didn’t know there was a show in town, the minitrucks at the car wash, and the custom cars at McDonalds gave it away. Vinyl logos were everywhere, and rims were being polished in hotel parking lots all over town. You could smell the Tire Wet all the way to your room, and there were enough shop towels being used to stock a Jiffy Lube for a year.Friday was an all night registration for those entering the show. Saturday was slightly overcast and warm, perfect weather for a show – and picture taking. The fairgrounds were packed to the brim with customized rides and awesome vendors like Drop Em Wear and JK Motorsports. The impressive display of vehicles included representatives from such clubs as Acrophobia, Subculture, and Pebble Pushers. Whether you like your rides sky high, slammed, tweaked, or tacky – this show had something for everyone. Only slightly less grand was the array of cars and trucks in the spectator parking lot.At any show that’s affiliated with Jawdropper Promotions, you can count on one thing – wild nighttime activities. The nightlife began at 8 PM with the neon contest. An hour later, was the freestyle rap and hunk contests. Around 9:45, the crowd finally got what it was waiting for when the bikini contest began. Although, there was a strict “no frontal nudity from the waist down” rule – the bikini and wet t-shirt contests didn’t disappoint. When the night activities ended, the motel after parties – and the just plain hanging out – went on well into the morning hours. The show fun continued on Sunday with the awards ceremony.

For those of you on the East Coast, add Slamsession to your list of must attend shows next year. I, for one, will be a repeat attendee in the years to come.
