The 11th Annual Falken Tire ITB-Lexington (formally the Midwest Truck and Car Nationals) by Special Events on June 15th and 16th, 2002 at Lexington, Kentucky's Masterson Station Park. The show officially begins on Saturday, so we met up with some other Negative Camber members on Friday night in Lexington for the pilgrimage to the local Hooters. What is it with mini truckers and Hooters? If there is a show in a town with Hooters, watch out is all I can say!!!! After we stuffed ourselves with food and drink, it was back to the hotel for some much needed sleep. Our crew was up early Saturday morning, to make sure that we had plenty of time to clean off the road grime from the trip to Lexington, grab a quick bite to eat, and then off to the show. Once at Masterson Station Park, we were registered and parked on the show grounds in a very timely manner with some of the Kentucky Negative Camber guys that had rolled to Lexington earlier that morning. Masterson Station Park is a great venue for a show, other than being a few miles off the main drag, and I'm sure the sport compact crowd would love to see a drag strip like at the ITB- Indianapolis, and everyone would love a little more shade. The show grounds has a paved circular road around the entire show area allowing for some great cruising and drag sessions and plenty of grass to clean your ride or set down and relax on. It is also one of the most organized shows you will find, since Special Events is in the business of putting on shows all over the country. They hire and train professionals like Traffic Girl. Traffic Girl was willing to put her life and golf cart on the line and put the smack down, if someone was not following her commands, and we found out she had a secret crush on one of the event t-shirt guys also. ITB-Lexington has a very large number of classes, so almost anyone could find a class that would fit their vehicle. This year as in years past, the judging was done by the very competent crew from Latest Craze, as in the Latest Craze that began Indy Bash (now called ITB-Indianapolis) a number of years back and is one of the premier shows in the entire country. These people have been around the sport of customizing trucks and sport compacts for many years and know all the terms and modifications we do in our sport! Drive-thru judging is used at a number of Midwest shows so that you can get your vehicle judged when you have your vehicle ready.

Besides being judged in the drive-thru judging there were many more things that this show offers. There was a hydro contest, bikini contest, BMX trick team and a very nice vendor midway that included such vendors as Air Ride Technologies. As the day turned into night in Lexington, all the participants headed back to their hotel and get ready for an evening of fun with club mates and friends. Some of Negative Camber's Saturday night highlights were going to the local BW-3's and watching a white drunk guy with dreads and looked a lot like Bob Marley rambling on about nothing, shooting the shit with our friends from Air Ride Technologies in the hotel parking lot until it started to rain, and then moved to the hotel bar to shoot pool until the wee hours of the morning. That girl sure could shoot pool, huh BJ?Sunday was Fathers Day and it started slower than the previous day due to lack of sleep, but after a hot shower we headed over to the local Waffle House. What a site to see! First off if you never eaten at a Waffle House you are missing' some good cookin'. Second was that this Waffle House was just down the street from the Cracker Barrel, and on Fathers Day Cracker Barrel was overly crowded, so you could tell all the folks who never in there life had see the inside of a Waffle House and really didn't want to be there, but didn't want to wait at Cracker Barrel either...it was funny as hell. Lexington is full of celebrities also, last year some of the guys in our group saw one of the Village People at White Castle in the middle of the night, this year we saw Davie Crockett with Olivia Newton-John at the Waffle House. After all this excitement we headed off to the show to relax and say good-bye to friends. After all the scores were totaled and the last judging decisions for specialty awards were calculated the trophy presentation was started, putting an end to a relaxing weekend with friends.
