Slamboree
Pleasures Trucks and Compacts present the 9th Annual Slamboree to benefit American Diabetes Association Located in Oklahoma City, OK on August 10th and 11th.
The weekend started on August 8th when the crew flew me in yet again a few days early for my birthday. With Brent picking me up from the airport, my birthday begun at good ol' Hooters once again. While waiting for other Pleasures members to get off work, Brent and I managed to chill at Hooters from about 1:30 till about 8:30! Needless to say, we had plenty to entertain us along with many friends dropping in for a few minutes at a time. It was kinda like rotating people out; hell we were even there long enough for the shift change! After we had realized how late it was, it was time to get ready for the clubs where the idea for Pleasures was to show me a good time. As the night wore down, I managed to live to see another day. Thanks to all that attended my Birthday and bought me things…
As Friday approached, and the Pleasures crew had set up shop at the show grounds, we all chilled and hung out in anticipation for mobs of rides to show up early. With the humidity being about 500% more then found in potatoland as usual, I found myself drinking more attempting to stay on the cool side. With the afternoon rolling around, some EC members where first to arrive and shortly there after the show goers started lining up to get their place on the grounds. With the Pleasures crew busy getting people in the grounds, I managed to sneak away with Brent to grab some grub and have some fun in Bricktown.
As Saturday arrived I managed to make the grounds fairly early and to much of my surprise people where filling the grounds area along with an ample of quality rides lined up all the way down the road in two separate lines. After stopping and talking to many friends I hadn't seen in some time, I was off to do what Pleasures brought me down for. As I started to snap photos Chas had arrived so we met up and decided to gang up on the massive amount of rides. With hours of walking behind us, the camera was put away and it was time to locate some rides to feature. Too much of our surprise there was numerous rides to choose from and after thinking we only had 2 or 3, we managed to get 6 or 7. As the night fell the people scurried off to grab some grub and clean up in preparation for Bricktown. With watching the dancing and partying going on, the night was ready to be retired to the hotel to rest up for my long journey home.
As Sunday morning came about I was to the show with all intentions of shooting more rides, but however the night before led me to a rude awakening and all I could do is drink water and sit down and grab some much needed rest before my air travels. If you've never been to Slamboree, I'd be sure to mark it on your calendars as one not to miss, as the quality of the show and the rides is hard to top. Thanks go out to all of Pleasures for making my trip and birthday yet another memorable one!
