Indy Truck Bash
Indy Truck Bash
Well, it was that time of the year again. August means one of the busiest months for show season
and it also means one of the greatest shows in the country comes around again. For those who have
never made the journey to Indianapolis, Indiana for Latest Craze's Indy Truck Bash, you're missing out.
Pictures can't possibly do any justice to this already great show. 2001 was no exception.
I started my Indy trip this year on Friday, like always. After waiting around to see who was going to make the trip that evening and who wasn't, I finally got on the road around 7:30 pm my time. After driving through Kentucky and into Indianapolis, I hit some major construction, which caused me to take a wrong turn and get lost in the middle of nowhere. After asking for directions and getting help from a guy in a hot rod mustang, I finally made it to my hotel in one piece. The Best Western was already packed with show rides waiting to be shown bright and early the next morning. I checked in, got situated and cleaned up and went to bed, ready to start early the next morning.
Saturday morning rolled around and I got up bright and early, showered and headed to the Indy Raceway Park to meet and greet and take pictures. After getting a warm welcome from the promotional company who puts on the show, I headed out into the park and started snapping photos of the rides that were in attendance this year.
In typical Indy Truck Bash fashion, some of the best were on hand to show-off their latest and greatest rides and modifications. Clubs like Negative Camber, Exclusive Styles, Relaxed Atmosphere, Gravity Concepts, Severed Ties and many, many others were on hand showing their best. If that wasn't enough, many individuals were there, as well, showing off their projects and finished rides.
One of the coolest things about this show is the fact that not only is there a car show happening, but the import drags are going on as well. I stopped snapping show shots long enough to watch a few quick imports run down the ΒΌ mile strip, some at amazing speeds. After watching a few runs, I went back to the show area and snapped a few photos, but by then the storm clouds rolled in and the sky basically fell. The show was pretty much over for the day at that point.
I grabbed a bite to eat and headed back to the hotel where I found my friends Steve and April waiting at the hotel for me, finally. There wasn't much to do with all the rain going on, so I pretty much just hung out at the hotel for the evening and watched people dive from the balcony into the swimming pool. After spending some time hanging out, I headed back to the room and got some sleep, hoping the weather would be better in the morning. Much to my surprise, it wasn't.
The following day was not only cloudy and rainy but also cold. So after getting up out of the bed and checking out of the hotel, I headed back to the show to finish taking photos and talking to my friends. I watched some of the drag races going on and the bikini contest, where my friend April won 3rd place. After that, it was time to head back home.
Indy Truck Bash is one of the best shows in the country. Even with the nasty weather this year, it was still a great time and continues to dominate as one of the top shows across the country. Make sure you check it out in 2002.
