Original Mini Nat's
This is the original Mini Truckin Nats!! Don’t let the new name (with the addition of Drop ‘Em Wear), or the fact that it moved from the heart of Pigeon Forge to about 10 minutes outside of town to the Sevier County Fairgrounds fool ya. This is the same show that has been around for years; actually this is the 15th year of the show.
I met up with a couple of the Xtreme Lowz guys from here in town and headed off for the about 1.5 hour drive to the show. First stop was at the hotel to check in and unload the car. Then it was off to another hotel to meet up with some of the other XL guys and find a spot to eat. We wound up eating at the infamous Bennett’s BBQ. About halfway through diner, the sky opened up and flooded everything in site. The parking lot was about ankle deep! After a quick stop by the local store to grab some drinks and snacks, we took off to bed to prepare for the next days events.
Saturday’s weather seemed to hold out for the most part as we left for the show. As we rolled into the show there was already a crown starting to show up and kept showing up for the remainder of the day. About mid day, the sky opened up and it rained for a while. This didn’t stop the fun though. I still managed to line up at least one feature before the day was over. I would have got more, but the weather didn’t seem to work out. We wound up grabbing a bite to eat at the Nascar Café just in time to see the pre-race show, and then we made a few trips around the strip before heading off to hit the bed.
Sunday the weather did the same thing to us, it starting raining about 11am when the awards started, so I didn’t get many pictures taken before we left. We wound up sitting in the “Chicken Excursion” for the awards before we hit the road. Unfortunately it POURED the rain the whole way home, so it took a little longer than it should.
