Texas Heat Wave
The date was July 20th. The location was Austin, Texas. This would be the time and place where the fun for the month of July would continue on from week one. After flying in fairly early compared to last years late night arrival, one of my friends, David welcomed me home. Like last year, the first stop was to swing in and see Cope from Sinister Motorsports before starting the night at one of Austin's better gentleman's clubs. Before hitting the club, there was a need for some beer in preparation along with waiting the arrival of Adam of Big Time Threads and Pin. Once the blood subsided out of our alcohol system and the players arrived, it was time to hit the town.
On our way to the Yellow Rose, we drove by what appeared to be a newer Mustang 5.0 located up on the guard rails of an on ramp. Being the gentleman that we are, we offered them a hand (clapped for them that is). On our arrival to the club we managed to put down a few drinks and relax. While there Chas and one of his friends joined us for some drinks and visuals. We would head home fairly early (430) in preparation for Fridays activities.
As Friday came about, I spent the morning seeing who was coming in when and where everyone was staying. Once David got off work we proceeded to hotel hop and sell some SSM merchandise along with displaying one of our fine halter-tops on a stripper friend of ours. With the night starting to fall, we found ourselves over where NC and ST where staying and hung out partying with them as only they know how. A few drinks and pets of the goat later and we were off once again to the Yellow Rose. While there, we managed to pick up one more stripper to display our SSM women's wear to walk around with us during the show Saturday.
With Saturday finally coming about, we got the girls ready and headed to the show to start getting some coverage. The traffic from the freeway to Dell Stadium was crazy! We were in traffic for an hour bumper to bumper. Not the best location to have a show, but once we finally arrived we say the normal THW quality rides as I was used to seeing. It took me from noon till almost 7pm to cover the complete show with the occasional stop and chat with friends. Having the strippers with SSM shirts on didn't help much with time as everyone wanted their pictures taken with them. Having finally met up with Joel and Bobby from The Wheel Source gave us a place to relax in the shade sell some shirts and point out big breasted women to the guys incase they happen to miss them.
With the grounds clearing out I decided to have the girls straddle a few 20-inch BOZE wheels for Larry the owner. To much of his enjoyment and a few others around, some good angles where acquired. Now after 7pm it was time to go change and shower to get prepped for some dance club activities. David ended up taking us to The Paradox where we would run into my buddies from Pleasures who (as usual) insisted on feeding myself shot after shot. Although Jimmy was way ahead of me, he was pretty persisting on catching me up. With the night coming to a close we had to head out to get rested for some photo shoots Sunday morning.
After shooting Kent's red S-10 in the morning hours, David and I walked around the show making sure to get pictures of the rides I had missed the day before. While walking around we noticed that the cops in the area where pulling any and every ride over as possible for any kind of modification. They even at one point wanted to arrest a Lower Level member for having paint over his plate tags. If it hadn't been for the traffic to the show and the cops Sunday, the location would have ended up being a decent one. As always, I proceeded to have fun with each and every day.
