The way I see it....
How ya'll doin? This is the first of what I hope becomes many installments of "The way I see it...views from the doublewide".
The first thing I want to do is give ya'll a little background on myself. Iam a recently returned minitrucker, even though I have never owned a mini before now. "How is that possible??" you ask. Well, I've been around custom vehicles all me life, mainly street rods, vans and hot rod trucks.
I found I had a passion for minis while on a family vacation in 1985....I can recall damn near every detail of that Mazdawg. It was white and pink, 14" ARE sawblades, "slammed" 3 inches and had those real cool hot pink spinners! Nowadays, that would be, well.... Ugly. Back then that Maz was cutting edge!
Anyway, back to the present. I recently purchased a 2000 S-10. So far it's dropped 5/6, 17 inch billets. Right after I bought it, I hooked up with a club called Explicit Concepts. This is what I want to discuss this month…clubs.
Not the one that supposedly "protects" your pride and Joy. Not the one that you and the boyz frequent trying to pick up a couple hunnies. I am talking about the one that you run around with, go to shows and T&A bars with.
To me, my club is like a family. We are a big dysfunctional family, hell..We put the FUN in dysFUNctional, but they are there when I need them. All clubs have one common thread, we all share the same goals and set-backs.
Finding a club can be tricky, but that's half the fun! I've found that one of the most important things to look for in a club is how they interact with each other and with other clubs.
In my travels, I have met and hung out with members from giant clubs such as Negative Camber, Severed Ties and Relaxed Atmosphere. This doesn't even come close to the local clubs, local to me anyway..Hehe, like Creative Differences and Gravity Permits. The people that I have met are some of the coolest, most easy-going folks that I know. It doesn't matter what club you run with, or if you are even in a club at all, all that matters is that you are in it to have fun, meet new people and go to shows. It's the members that make the club, not the other way around.
So, if you're in a club, be it a smaller local club or a nationwide organization, hold your head high and shake people's hands. Always treat other clubs members as equals and remember...we are all in this together!
So...until next time, keep yours wheels spinnin' and the beavers grinnin'!!
