Slam Session 2K
Slam Session 2K
In only it’s second year, Slam Session hosted by Priority One car club is already showing signs of being something a lot of people will look forward to. Held at the beautiful Executive Inn (or “E” as most know it), this show has the potential to be one most will mark on their calendars.
The day started early for me. I decided to take my own project Nissan with me, so I spent the night before cleaning and getting everything loaded on the trailer. At 6am, I hit the road on my way to Paducah.
After rolling into Paducah, it wasn’t hard to find the “E” Everyone knows the hotel, which is a multi-use facility complete with hotel, shops, conference rooms and even a place for concerts. The parking lot would be the place to host the weekends mix of cars, truck and even motorcycles.
The crew of Priority One had things right from the start. Well organized, the line rolling it to register was already backed up, as people were getting parked to get their rides cleaned and ready for the drive-through judging that would take place that weekend.
As I got my truck setup and busted out the camera to start shooting the show, I noticed that for a not-so-well-known show, a lot of big ballers had made their presence known. Relaxed Atmosphere and Negative Camber both brought out some of their finest rides to give the spectators something to look at. Not only were two of the biggest clubs in the nation in attendance, but some smaller, less known clubs had brought out some nice rides and there were several independents that made a name for themselves as well. Some of the highlight of the weekend were Matt from Relaxed Atmosphere and his four door Blazer recently complete and Adam from Negative Camber and his cleaner than clean S-10. Both of these guys managed to win specialty awards that were well deserved.
As the day went on, everyone drove through judging as the Priority One crew managed to get all 350-or-so rides in and out without causing too much unnecessary wait. Judging would continue all day and there was even judging on Sunday, though you weren’t eligible for the many specialty awards if you were judged on Sunday.
As the sun started to set, everyone got ready for a night of cruising in downtown Paducah along with a wild bikini contest that being held at a local sports bar.
The next day would bring even more rides into the “E” parking lot. The DJ kept things jumping with music for all generations and there was a ton of food and drink vendors there to keep the masses happy. Sunday afternoon brought everyone’s favorite part of the weekend – the awards ceremony. Priority One did it right with nice trophies for the winners.
Next year, if you aren’t booked for this weekend, you should check out Slam Session. Rich from Priority One tells us they’ve got even more planned and will have a bigger and better turnout than ever. Street Source will be back again, as should you.
