Waaaaazzzzzzzzzzz uuuuuuuupp!!!! I know, I know, who is this? Well if you’ve been around since the first SSM issue, the name might be familiar. I’m just the voice behind the voice… I’m your alter ego, or your conscious. Well enough about me. I’m here to write about important stuff. Like clubs, parties, women, and the minitruckin’ way of life! One of my main discussions this month would deal with how you should build your ride. This is usually a problem for most, which I can’t for the life of me understand. Personally, I would much rather build my ride to please myself more than some show promoter, magazine or other random individual. After all, you’re the one that’s going to have to look at it day after day. I’m not going to go about telling you how I think you should build your ride to win a show (although I will give you some tips) and I’m not going to tell you how to build your ride to get magazine coverage. But, what I am going to stress is making sure you build your ride the way YOU want it and not others. As this article will show, some “friendly” advise could lead you astray and actually make you the laugh of the night, weekend, month or year! After going through the archive of pictures from this past month, I noticed some pics that G-man mister editor caught on film. Needless to say I couldn’t help but laugh my ass off! I asked Garrick the story and to make a long story short, one guy, not knowing what should be done with his ride, ended up being a good laugh during a loooong drunk night in Austin, Texas. Although he says he had nothing to do with it (yeah right) at the end, the guy thought what he had was special and he was happy with it’s turn out.

Now I’ve been around the scene for years and have seen some of the baddest rides from coast to coast. I’ve heard it all when it comes to why someone didn’t take first at a show. I just sit back and laugh. I laugh at the fact that people are stressing about someone else’s opinion. I could not even place in my class and it wouldn’t bother me the slightest. What makes it all worth it for me is dragging my mini down the street and pulling up next to a car with some little kids. When you hear “mommy look at that truck, it’s nice,” those words mean more to me then any trophy collecting dust could ever do. But, for those that are looking for help on what needs to be done to place at shows here you go. The most obvious thing first is clean your ride. Make sure she sparkles inside and out. I’m talking engine, interior, exterior, undercarriage and trunk/bed. A clean ride goes a lot further than any body mod you can dream of. Next is something that most people are either lazy when it comes to, or they don’t think they can cause of a body-drop. You NEED to pull at least one wheel. This will help when it comes to showing the undercarriage. For those body-dropped rides, get a stand with your lug pattern that is the same height as your tires. Believe me, this will help. I’ve seen some of the baddest rides out there - chrome everywhere, mods galore but no interior? And they wonder why they didn’t take first?? They have interior, but looks like a stock leather interior even though that year car didn’t come with it? Not all judges know this. Make a sign letting them know or do something that stands out.
