Making it in the sport....
In the past two years I have been MiniTruckin, I have noticed a few things at truck runs, and even prejudices against the younger crown displayed over the Internet. Me being so young, it is hard to keep up with the trends. I have also noticed that in the magazines all the trucks are way radical six-digit expense built trucks. Kids can't be expected to have a truck just like a 27-year-old that makes 60g's a year. I mean, me personally, I go to school all day everyday, and can't wait till the day when I will be making the mad loot.
At truck runs, I am constantly getting bad looks, even though I know my truck looks just like the others, am I not cool enough because of my age, or what? Do I need to change my haircut? Or maybe I need to expand my Tattoo count from 2, to 30 to be hip with the crowd. I remember the night at Summer Slam just a month ago. Cruising around the campground at night, and having all the girls bash on me cause I was young. Couldn't get my hands on some T&A no matter how old I tried to act. I was contemplating going to the local YMCA to see what kind of selection I had there. I'm not saying I get No respect, just not enough, I'm not one of those kids who walks around with my hat sideways and a mean grin on my face trying to look hard-core, I am nice to everyone and deserve a fair chance to be "in with the crowd"?
Next on my list of ?ever going grumbling.? The way people treat me online. When I meet people on AOL, and get to talking about stuff like bag suspension, and wheels and stuff like that, they talk to me as if I am stupid and don?t know what the hell I am talking about. Well, they are wrong, I know a lot for my age. So have an open mind and don?t think just because I am 17 years old, that it?s not possible for me to know just a little bit more than you. Have an open mind; us young kids might just be able to teach you a thing or two?.
Well, I'll stop bitching now about how the kids in the scene get treated, I have been treated more good then bad, but the bad is always around lingering somewhere. SO when you see a kid at a truck run, or talking online, respect them until they really do mess up and give you a reason. Most of us are pretty cool people.
