Texas Showdown brings me to Houston, TX for yet another great time with a bunch of down to earth people. After flying in and having Barry pick me up we would head to Ekstensive where we would meet up with a gang of people, sit around and shoot the shit. After an hour or so of melting in the hot humid surroundings Ronnie from Phlat Out and Paco would come along ready to do some features. With that being set in place we’d head out to the show area and shoot a ton of killer rides. As the sun set we’d pack things up, head to Mitch’s house to get cleaned up and then head to Red River for some good ol’ redneck times. If you’ve never been you need to go, 50-cent drinks all night with a bunch of friends, how could you miss it!!!After recovering from the night before Andrew “Ballpark” would pick me up and take me to the show where I’d begin walking and snapping photos. On my journey I’d continue to run into friends I hadn’t seen in some time along with meeting new people like the crew from Kustom Ink Klothing (KIK), Naomi and many others. This years event had the same high dollar ride turn out but larger in numbers and with being a 2 day event there seemed to be a much more lax attitude. After the show was closing down we’d head out to get some grub and then head back to Mitch’s house. Being wore out we’d all shower and chill at Mitch’s and relax for a bit before loading up and heading to another house for some good times and cold beers. Other then watching big belly boys wrestle after drinking down a bottle of Tequila the night was just chill as we were all wore out from the humidity and walking during the day.

As Sunday arose we’d head back to the show and I’d finish walking around the grounds to get the new entries and make sure I didn’t miss anything important. With the coverage bein’ taking care of I’d chill over around the Ekstensive/Phlat Out/Spensive area and drink on some water and relax before flying out. Unfortunetly I missed the bikini contest but so goes the battle. All and all this was a good show and if you are within’ what you like to consider driving distance this is a show you should mark on your calendar for next year.Garrick Arends
