Just when you thought things couldn't get any better, the local Mayor got involved, allowing Severed Ties to logo one of his police cars, take some pics with a huge Severed Ties plaque and even allowing several members to take pics in the back of a police car, appropriately number #420.
As the night went on, the crowds started to disappear and everyone settled in their rooms to get back to the show on Sunday.
Sunday morning brought back more heat, more humidity and everyone back to the show. I had to shoot a few features before heading over to the show, so Brandt Fuqua and I took off to the back roads of Greenville to find a suitable location. After the photo shoots, we headed to McDonald's for a little breakfast, where Courtney Halowell and Mike Finnegan decided to get our laughter flowing for the day. After eating a bit and trying to get over that normal sick feeling you have from eating at McDonald's, we headed to the show and I got back to snapping more photos, hanging out and meeting new people and just having a great time at a great show.
Around 3pm, the awards ceremony started and the crew from Assorted Minis went to work handing out the trophies to the lucky winners. Kevin Blackshere won a special award for his Saturday night railing show and Relaxed Atmosphere managed to dominate the specialty awards, winning Best Paint, Best Undercarriage, Street Trucks Editor's Choice and even Truckin'/Minitruckin' Editor's Choice, among others. Negative Camber won the Club Participation award, beating out other top clubs like Relaxed Atmosphere and Severed Ties.
Greenville is one of the best shows, east coast or west coast. If you haven't experienced it for yourself yet, you should make that journey to the land of brown water and see for yourself. You don't be disappointed.
