Showing it ALL OFF 2K3
When the Explicit Concepts Memphis, TN chapter first started talking about throwing there first annual show, I knew before the first ride arrived to the show grounds that this show was going to be a party first and a show second and was I ever more right.
It is not often that I get to attend a show and not have to sleep in a hotel or crash on some ones couch. So for me living only five minutes away the EC show was going to be cool cause I could sleep in my own bed. I arrived at the Shelby Agra Center Sat morning to see a great turn out for a first year show. After I got parked I made my way to the Silver Star customs rig to meet up with all the SSC guys and to check out Big Johns new creation, an old body style Blazer with a new body style front clip. This thing is SICK. Next it was off to see an old friend from way back Cory in the Drop Em' Wear booth. Him and his wife were busy with customers wanting one of the shirts from the new 2K3 line from Drop Em' wear so it was time to move on. With the threat of rain looming over the show I decided that no time was like the present to go ahead and make my rounds taking show shots of the sweet gathering of out of town rides. I was amazed as I walked around seeing out of state tags from Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Indiana, Louisiana and many more all over the show grounds. There was almost a bigger turn out of outta town rides then locals. As the day went on it was time for the draggin and other wise craziness that is in typical EC fashion. From frames to Titanium the road stayed packed beside the show grounds with fools keeping the crowd pumped as they tried to outdo the person before them. I think the guy on the bike has scene the R Ruff Ryders' video one to many times, but damn he could ride.
Once the sun went down and the cool weather kicked in the grounds went from show mode to party mode. EC had lined up three of the Mid-South's BADDEST bands in the land to perform. As soon as one band left the stage another was there to take their place in true EC style.
Sunday morning was AWESOME. Not to hot and just right. I arrived to the show a little later then I wanted to because of the rough night the night before, to a packed house. I quickly made my rounds taking pics of anything I might have missed Saturday and lining up a feature of an extremely sanitary fullsize. Once I was done with the feature it was time to make my way to the stage were the EC crew was starting there own twisted version of MTV's Jackass better known to EC as "Dumbass".
It wasn't long until some dumbass was running to a lake on the show grounds in a G String bikini on for a mere $25 dollar gift certificate to Stylin Concepts. I guess there is one in every crowd. Once the dude got his cloths back on, THANK GOD! It was time for the Ladies to have there fun. In true EC style they decided a Bikini contest was boring so they decided the only thing to do was have a homemade Bikini contest. Hell I'm game for it! So one after one these sweet ladies showed their version of a homemade bikini. After the fun was over it was time to get down to business of trophies like no one else could do. Once the show classes received there awards it was time for some EC specialty awards such as the EC party award, which was three polished out beer kegs with flames and EC plaque attached. I personally think I need one for my living room. Next the band Exhaust presented their Exhaust award, a chrome fart pipe with the bands logo attached. No EC show would be complete without the Piece of Shit award. Now see this one was personally my favorite for a couple reasons, who ever received this had to be a person with one helluva sense of humor and one raged ass Piece of shit. Sure enough the ride that received it deserved it. Just kidding but seriously it takes a cool person to receive and award like that. The next award was the Draggin Ass award this went to the person that tore the ever living shit out of there ride all weekend long and went thru more titanium then Silver Star Customs could bring to the show. Clyde thanks you. The award went to the dually of Grandpaw for totally beating his dually for the crowds pleasure and for his accomplishments his award was a busted ass twisted up Crossmember that looked liked like it had scene better days.
When most people see the logo or hear the name EC they automatically think " Them Dudes are CRAZY" well after throwing there first show the Memphis chapter has truly joined the right to call themselves Explicit Concepts.
EC Memphis would like to that each and every outta towner that showed up to there first ever show and hope that everyone returns next year for an even better show. The show will be moving to a new and better location so stay tuned to the EC website for next years information.
Also don't forget the EC Texas crew will be throwing their 7th Annual "Topping It All Off" in Denton, TX July 11-12th. Check out http://www.explicit-concepts.com/ for more details.
