In February of 1998 Brett and Kelli Hunsaker had a decision that needed to be made. The Neon they were driving had to be kicked to the curb and in its place, something needed to be added that would grab the interest of any auto enthusiast, anywhere. After searching through the possibilities, a decision was made. The decision? A 1998 Volkswagon Passat. The show scene would never be the same. To make their new project more impressive, not only would it have be nice enough to win trophies at every show it was taken to, but be driven daily by the rightful owners. It would even be used to cart the new addition to the family around. Living in Utah for the first year after their purchase, they had to deal with the snow, but that didn’t stop Brett from wanting to customize the Passat. Now living in Las Vegas Nevada, things are much easier on their ride.

It was the same time the new Beetle was coming out and was the newest craze. At first the Passat was just going to be the family car, but things started to happen. Brett was soon talking to Troy Hamilton, a friend who had air bagged his Honda Accord and asked if he could do the same to the Passat. After Troy said yes, it was time to rush back to Utah to rip the suspension out and bring it down to new levels of low. Troy had to first fabricate mounts for the front bags so they would pivot since the Passat has rotating struts. Then Firestone airbags were added and a pair of Pro Comp Explorer shocks to smooth things out. (Continued...)
