In 1995, Jeff Lander of Owasso, Oklahoma was searching for a project truck. Something that he could work with, turn a few heads and maybe even win a few trophies. He never thought he would end up being the envy of those who share his class, much less everyone else who happened to run across it at shows across the country. What he ended up with was just sic and twisted. After putting down $12,000 duckets to purchase a 1992 Chevy Step-side C1500 and dumping close to another $48,000, Jeff now has to find places to store all the trophies he brings home. Seeing how Jeff is a painter and co-owner of a body shop, you had to know that the truck was not going to go untouched. Growing up around the 70’s vanner days and actually being around the sport for five years, something spectacular was bound to happen to his new Chevy. Since he already had the truck, and was now interested in a body dropped ride, why not chop up the step-side? That is exactly what he did. Turning to Brad Turner and Eric Long for help, things were about to get serious.

In order to go for the low-low look Jeff strived for, the truck was completely torn down, and the frame reworked utilizing 3/16” material and then channeled six inches. While the frame was bare, Carefree Paint and Body in Tulsa, Oklahoma sprayed the frame, laying down the paint and flame graphics. After smoothing and painting the new frame, it was time to work on the suspension. In the rear, a 4-link, and break assembly where pulled out of a 1993 Crown Victoria and custom fit to the newly manufactured frame. Airbags were then installed along with Bell Tech shocks to smooth things out. In the front, Bell Tech spindles, springs and shocks where installed along with a set of Firestone airbags. Now that the ride height had been taken care of, it was time to get rolling stock. With this decision, Jeff decided to go with 18x8 inch Colorado Customs in the front and with 20x9.5 in the rear wrapped in 275/35 20’s.
