Gator Drag
Gator Drag
In the swamps of Louisiana lies a little town known as Jennings. For years this little town played host to one of the most famous shows in the land Cajun Mini Nats. As time went on the show like time passed on but was never forgotten. It wasn't till one day in SSM chat that Brandon Leblanc started asking people what they thought about bringing back this show in a different form and making it the kick ass show the Cajun Mini Nats at one time was. This show had never left his thoughts and it was only natural that he hosed a show in the town that once played home to a great show.
When Brandon first started the idea of Gator Drag everyone seemed to get excited about the idea of the return of a show to Jennings. The town is an awesome place. First the city officials are amazing and there hospitality towards the scene is unfounded in most parts of the country. Second Jennings has the support needed for an event with great hotels and awesome restaurants. Last ingredient needed that Jennings definantly has is a great location to host the show and the Oil and Gas park is phenomenal with plenty of shade and room to accommodate a great show.
We arrived in Jennings Friday night after working all day at the shop. We arrived to meet Radar and Duck in the parking lot shooting the shit and qwickly joined them. It wasn't long until we were making a trip to the local convenient store for some adult beverages. Phatty and Jimmy decided to unload Jimmy's Isuzu with a fresh built small block 302. Now adult beverages and a body laying mini with a small block can only spell one thing DISASTER. After a couple 120 Mph body dragging passes down the service road it was time to take the keys away from Jimmy and call it a night. Dude don't kill Phatty I need him at the shop to run the sawzall.
Sat morning was gorgeous. We arrived at the park and our jaws hit the dirt as we was totally amazed at the quality and the quantity of vehicles that had made their way in from as far away as Cali to attend the show. It wasn't long until we had the camera out and decided to go ahead and cover the show for everyone to enjoy. As the day pressed on we were all feeling the pain from the night before so we decided to head to the hotel to rest and get ready for the nighttime activities. We made our way to the main strip after some rest, because the Major of Jennings was hosting a parade and cruise thru the heart of Jennings.
It was awesome to watch the local PD block off the streets of Jennings to allow show goers to cruise the strip. As cruisers made there way thru Sonic Drive-Inn everyone was allowed to do burnouts and show off for the gathering of people. These burnouts included the local PD showing that cops know how to have fun too. Sparks were flying all night as the local PD and city officials allowed everyone to enjoy themselves and totally cut loose. With our stomachs growling we all loaded up and headed to go eat. For any resturant to allow 15 mini truckers to eat without getting mad and throwing us out is a feat in itself. I was amazed at the hospitality the city was bestowing on everyone. They were truly great.
After arriving back at the hotel there was a large gathering of show goers that were standing around shooting the shit and drinking some adult beverages. This is what makes shows. Going to a show and just relaxing and enjoying the friendships that you have made over the vast years of being in this sport.
Sat. night we had made arrangement with Bryan Fross of SoCal Customs to get some awesome dragging footage for his new DVD he is releasing in a few months, Mayhem Redemption. We decided we needed to show Bryan how we do it here in the Dirty South since they don't know how in Cali, or at least that's what Bryan tells us. We had just finished a dually for Steven and Chrissy so what better victim to destroy then a freshly bagged dually. We decided that I-10 was a great place to break it in and so from exit to exit we supplied Bryan with some much needed coverage for his next DVD. Bryan hope you enjoyed it? It's now Stock Floor Body Dropped thanks to the 4 miles of non-stop dragging!!!!!!!!
Sunday morning came way to quick and we knew we needed to head back to the show and finish covering the event. We arrived to see even more vehicles had arrived that we had not seen Sat. I guess it didn't take long for the word to get out that this show was awesome. As the evening pressed on it was time to hand out the much-deserved awards. But the true award should have gone to Brandon Leblanc and the entire crew that hosted the show. This show is proof that even a first year show is worth attending. This show will be on the TOP of my must attend shows for next year. Totally Amazing!!!!!!!!!
