With the rejuvenated lifted truck scene that Craig Elder is most familiar with, the scene has become a competition of height, much like the minitruck scene is a competition of low. So to keep to the true competitive nature, the suspension would need to be worked over. First of all, all of the stock suspension would be removed so that Jim could smooth out the frame rails from front to rear. In doing this it provided a new platform for Craig and Jim to begin the creation and installation of the immense suspension set up. For beginners, the 3500 HD dually rear end and Dana 60 front axles were beefed up with over sized gussets and the crew then added the link bar, sway bar, shock and airbag mounts. Since the truck would be reaching a cab height of around 12 feet, an extensive tubular drop down cage was constructed and installed midway under the frame to properly position the transfer case in such a way as to keep the Inland Driveline driveshaft angles dependable.

The cage also provides the mounting locations for the chrome-plated "The Edge" Donahoe Racing Enterprises link bars with 1-ΒΌ heim joints. The front is equipped with a triangulated four-link and the rear is fitted with a triangulated two-link system. There was even enough room left over for the 4 Optima yellow top batteries to straddle the transfer case.
