Protege5 Project
Now that I've had two months to work on the build up of Relaxed5, things are really starting to take off. I've not been able to work on much, still gathering parts and waiting on parts to arrive. The UPS man has become my favorite person lately. As anyone knows that has ever built a car all at once, most parts can't be installed until you get another part. For example, I had my wheels for about a month, but just now got tires. I had my nitrous, but can't install it until I get my intake put in. Little things like that always seem to hold up progress but its well worth it in the end.
It has been a busy two months. Spending most of my free time on the phone or online trying to find parts or for that matter, companies that make parts for my car. There are only a handful of companies that make parts for the Protégé 5 because it is a first year production car and even the regular Protégés are an all-new design. Other than the expensive phone bills, the search has been productive. I have found almost every part I set out to find with the exception of a few parts that haven't been made yet like headers and euro taillights.
While searching for parts I have found several companies that were willing to work with me and send me the parts needed to build the car. I have everything from wheels to TV's scheduled to be on the finished product. It just all takes time to put together but I think I have gone further in two months that I ever expected. This just goes to show that if you set out to build an award-winning vehicle, that there is always companies out there that are willing help and get their name out there. Most of them will check your references and need some proof how their money will be accounted for. Here is an updated list of companies that have decided to lend their support to the Relaxed5 project. The list is always changing on a day-to-day basis.
