Setup for Darryl Starbird's 38th annual Rod and Custom car show began Thursday morning at the Tulsa Expo Center. The morning was spent setting up the Streetskinz clothing booth and the rest of the day was spent drinking beer. The Tulsa show is the biggest of the three shows that Darryl Starbird puts on during the winter months in Kansas and Oklahoma. Show participants included street rods, mini trucks, full sizes and other unique vehicles. We spent the evening at a local dance club and continued to drink throughout the night. On the way home, Jimmie Broyles showed us his "dog with head out window pose" as he puked all the way down the highway. When we returned to my apartment, we took pictures of Jimmie puking in the sink and in the bathtub, and then we all passed out. Friday morning came early for us. We woke up and headed to the show before the doors opened at 10 a.m. Friday was a long 13-hour day spent selling shirts, counting "mullets" and drinking beer. When the show was over for the day, we went back to my apartment to clean up. Then we headed back out to the clubs for another late night of drinking and partying. Friday night was yak-free, but we still had a good time. Saturday was another long 13-hour day spent selling more shirts, counting more "mullets" than ever and drinking more beer. The Expo Center was packed with spectators who came not only to see the show vehicles, but the monster trucks, magic shows and the Texas Bikini Team. With all the different events going on and over 300 show vehicles under one roof, the crowd streamed in steadily. Again, once the show was over for the day, we headed back to my apartment to get cleaned up. Then we headed out to yet another club for more drinking and partying.

Sunday was the last day of the show and we where all pretty worn out from the events of the weekend. Once again, the show was packed with spectators. The awards ceremony began at 5 p.m. As the trophies were being handed out, we packed up the clothing booth and headed back to Oklahoma City to relax and catch up on some sleep. During the four days we spent at the show, the four of us managed to polish off five cases of beer.Kevin BlacksherePleasures Trucks & Compacts
