Once again it is time to round up the wife and kids in Dallas, Texas, to head on over to the Dallas Autorama. Like always this years event was held at Dallas Market hall on valentines weekend. For those of you who have never been to a Autorama/ world of wheels, this is the show that all the hot rods you see running around your town come together and show, along with all the ISCA cars form all over the nation. Autorama's are fun indoor shows that give a spectator something to do during the winter months while waiting on the outdoor show season to start up. As for my weekend at Dallas Autorama it all started on Thursday Feb. 14th, I was contemplating on whether I would go this year or not as I was sitting at a local biker bar drinking beer on my day off. After a few beers my painter called and asked if he could use my display for one of the trucks he painted, and like the nice guy I am I agreed to this. During the conversation on when/where he would get the display from me he made the remark "why don't you put your bike in the display also." Like the half drunk person I was I quickly agreed. So the rest of the day was filled with running around like a wild man trying to get the display together and cleaning of the bike I just road a few days before through a turd floater (hard rain). Once we got everything together and clean it was closing time for the show but I did have a few seconds to take a glance at the competition. Friday was a short day at the show, after work I hooked up with a couple local Camber members and after grabbing some grub at hooters we loaded my backpack up with beer and headed to the show. After spending most of the time at the Area 51 booth we walked and got a few pictures then proceed to a local pub and consumed alcohol and played pool. Immediately after work on Saturday I head back to the show to get the show coverage on a more intense note since I only had 20 pictures from the 2 days before. After getting all the pictures I needed I had time to relax and talk to a few venders and check out their new products for the 2002 show season. Unfortunately this year at the Autorama my usual beer man was not there, you know the guy that you can bribe with a 20 to get free refills all day long so you don't have to pay 4 dollars a beer. But on Sunday I came prepared, unfortunately a little too prepared.

Sunday started out great, but it would soon come to a quick end. After getting lunch and picking up the bike trailer so I could haul the display home we stopped by the beer store and loaded up back-pack again with some cool refreshments. Once we got to the show we hung out with local show goers and BS'd until it was time for awards, during the awards I was feeling good, laid back in my chair and enjoying myself during this long ceremony. After taking about 3 piss breaks they called out my bike class and I one 1st, woohoo, too bad I was the only one in my class, but still at least I got a plaque. After awards it was time to load up and head out, this was the time that I realized I was fucking DRUNK (ß notice the caps.) Now to all the kids that have motorcycles do not ride them when you have been drinking and especially do not ride your bike when there is armor-all on the tires. I am not going to go into detail what happened to me but it was not a pretty sight. Needless to say we all got home safely, especially after we got the bike up in the trailer with only a few scratches, but to round up my embarrassing story if you have never been to a Autorama/world of wheels show, go ahead and check one out, you could learn something.Chas NicholsSSM-pyrobagdpyro@aol.com
