Ok, let me start by saying that this is NOT how I like for a truck run to start. After getting up at 4am to catch a flight out of Nashville at 5:30am, I arrived at the airport to find our plane had problems with the air conditioning system. After borrowing a part from another airline to repair the problem, our captain received word from my connecting city (Atlanta) that the airport was closed due to bad weather. So after over an hour of sitting on an MD-88, we finally got airborne. After arriving in Atlanta, I found I missed my plane by about 20 minutes. So, I headed to the information desk, got another flight, called Eddie to let him know I'd be arriving late in West Palm and sat at the Atlanta airport for over an hour. Close to 12 in the afternoon, I finally reached my destination, West Palm Beach, Florida. I could tell the weather was going to be much better than Nashville when I got off the plane. After a week of cold weather and rain, it was nice to finally see the sun and feel the Florida heat. After getting off the plane, I was greeted by the show promoter, Eddie Cebreco, along with Negative Camber member Chris Schmidt and one of Xtreme Low's members, Shawn. We all loaded up in Shawn's Navigator on Lowenhart 20's and headed out to check out the beautiful West Palm Beach scenery. I got a good nights sleep and got up early the next day and hooked up with Chris Schmidt. We picked up his girlfriend from the airport and picked up mine later that day. After spending a nice evening in West Palm Beach, we all went to bed, anticipating the next day's events. Saturday morning finally rolled around and we got up early to head to the show. As we rolled up to the South Florida Fairgrounds, we were stuck in the massive line of vehicles entering the show. The host club, Xtreme Lowz, let us through the gate and we got busy.

There were tons of nice rides filling up the fairgrounds. This show attracted everything from compact cars to the lowest trucks around. Some of the highlights were Tom Bennett's newly completed '98 Blazer from Local Minis. This four door beast caught everyone's attention. Some other heavy hitters attending the show this year were Eric Cryan and his badder-than-bad Tacoma, sporting a new front end. Some of the best clubs around were in attendance this year as well. Rides from Local Minis, Mini Madness, Negative Camber, Aftermath and Acrophobia were hand, showing their latest and greatest projects from the winter. The crew from Mini Madness won the Club Participation award. They brought out 22 rides, to take their reign at the Blood Drag. Vendors were in full effect at Blood Drag this year as well. Carma Motorsports as well as Drop Em Wear were two main vendors, as well as sponsors for the show. Taking a stroll through vendors alley proved worthy, as you could find anything and everything from intakes to places to get your ride painted. Saturday night proved to be pretty wild, as everyone could imagine in the South Florida heat. Who could not enjoy watching ride after ride laying frame and throwing hella sparks for the massive amounts of people in front of the hotels? Some of the highlights were Eric Cryan in his Taco, the suburban from Negative Camber sporting a 112" sliding ragtop with several fools hanging out of it as they scraped by, and again, Tom Bennett's freshly finished Blazer, laying body and throwing sparks with the rest of them. Sunday brought out even more rides and even more sun and fun. Some of the highlights on Sunday were the bikini contest, raffle and of course, the awards ceremony. The Blood Drag is a great show for a great cause. This show was started to help the West Palm Beach chapter president of Local Minis, as well as the south Florida area blood banks. Blood could even be donated at the show. Make sure you mark your calender next year and be there, as Street Scene Magazine will be.
