340 exhibitors, 764 cars and 252 000 fans... Year after year, the Tokyo Auto Salon expands its influence in the custom car world and the 2004 show was no exception. Despite showing little interest in the early years, the large car manufacturers, (Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda etc and to a lesser extent Subaru and Suzuki) are increasing their exposure at these shows; evident by their enormous display stands. But the creativity and impact of a custom tuner is not necessarily proportional to the surface area of the display stand, or the size of the company. The Autobacs group exhibited a total of 24 terrifying cars. Other "small tuners" like VeilSide and the mechanic schools, NATS (Nihon Automobile College) were also set to impress.
