This year, round about the first part of January, the International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) makes its regular scheduled stop in Las Vegas, Nevada for their annual four-day convention. Hosted at the newly expanded Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) this enormous electronic event showed off the newest electronic manufacturers and their newly released product for 2003.
Foot traffic this year was among the busiest yet and vendors were pleased with the amount of interest that trickled in from surround halls and meeting rooms. Among the computers, digital cameras, cellular phones and televisions, participants could also find the newest 12-volt products including head units, woofers, amplifiers, in car video and of course the newest and most extreme company demo vehicles.
Major manufacturers such as Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood, Alpine, MB Quart and Q-Logic were all on hand to display their newest innovations in 12-Volt technology. Taking the industry by storm was obviously mobile video. When once there were only a few companies who offered video there are now over a dozen small and large companies that specialize in mobile video.
Although the 12-volt components were only a small part of the 2 million square foot event, their numbers are growing and more industry related participants such as Ichibahn and Toucan are taking notice of mobile electronics and their effect on the automotive industry.
We will keep you posted, as always, with any new and exciting products to hit the 12-volt market. As for the CES show, well the next one is not for another year so keep you eyes peeled for the newest most innovative product to hit the automotive scene in 2004.
