When the new Mercury Cougars first came out, I remember saying to myself "What are they thinking?" A few months later at a show in California, I saw one laid out and I've had a new found love for this breed of car ever since. Back in September of 1998, Darron Shubin of Laguna Neguel, California, saw much more potential right off the bat than I. After signing on the dotted line for a mere $19,700, it was time to show the sport compact car world what was up with his 1999 Cougar. Being in the industry and working for Energy Suspension, the opportunity for product development on Darron's Cougar was a strong possibility. Along with that, building something unique would drive Darron to going all out for the show scene.
