All Chevy/GMC Truckin' Nats
All Chevy/GMC Truckin' Nats
Here we go again, going to a show with NO plans at all. That seems to be a trend starting with me this year. I had a vacation planned with the vacation that started the weekend of this show, May 1st and 2nd. We weren’t leaving for our family trip until that Sunday so I managed to squeeze in a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to the 14th Annual All Chevy/GMC Truckin Nationals for that Saturday. We worked out our schedule to leave around lunch that Saturday and come back that afternoon. It's not a bad drive since Pigeon Forge is only like and hour and a half away.
We pulled into the show around 12 and quickly grabbed a parking spot up front. (I wasn’t showing, just there for magazine coverage) Now I did get some weird looks being this was strictly a “TRUCK” show and I drove my “CAR”. I guess that’s one of the perks of shooting for a magazine, you get special parking! LOL
After we took a couple minutes to suck down a cheeseburger and let the kid eat, it was off to work. The show was held at the Rivers Landing Hotel right on the main strip and from front to back, the parking lot was packed with custom GM trucks from all years and sizes. There was everything from a ’49 to a ’72 C-10 to S-10’s. First thing in the gate was the vendor row with everything from classic Chevy parts, to stickers to shirts. There was even a portable dyno on site so show goers could test out the performance mods they had done to their trucks.
After making a few passes through the show, it was time to line up a couple features and drive down the road to find some spots to shoot them at. By the time I got things rounded up and two features shot, it was already dark. Being we had planned to go home that night, I realized that by the time we went to eat it would be like 1am by the time we got home. That isn’t a good thing when you got a 3 year old with you, so I got up with the show promoter and got a room for the night. After checking into the room we headed down the road to the Golden Corral and grabbed a bite to eat.
We wound up eating with Russell from Xtreme Lowz TN, Dave from Pp and Dan from Truckin Magazine. We wound up leaving as soon as we got up Sunday to head home and finish packing for vacation. Come to find out, we missed the POURING rain all day Sunday, so i'm glad I got my features out of the way when I did.
I’ve attended this show off and on since 1995 and ill be back at it again. For info on this show or next years show check out www.Autoshows.CC
