End of Summer Bash
End of Summer Bash
The Low Rollers show, now in its 8th year should never be a show that you miss. Every year it seems that these guys put on a better show. Friday night we rolled down to Salem County to see nothing but custom rides cruising around. I knew it was the night before the show when I pulled into the local gas and go and it was loaded with fully custom rides gassing up. If your from the east coast you know that most of the big clubs hit this show including Relaxed Atmosphere, Negative Camber, Cali Style, East Coast Minis, Subculture, Creative Style, Down-N-Dirty, Grounded 4 Life, Down Syndrome, Vertically Challenged, and many more. Saturday came around and I headed off to shoot Keith "Pudge" Bell's 2-Tone S-10.
I had been to the show many times before and seen a run down gas station on the way, but this year the station seemed like it was under renovation, but still ended up being the perfect spot for the feature. After meeting up with some friends I was off to the show. On the way there was a couple of people dragging their trucks down the main strip to the show and I could tell from then on it was going to be a dope show. You can see the show field from about 2 miles down the road as your driving up, and all I could see was rides parked everywhere. Pulling up I was not surprised to see almost every class packed with cars and trucks. They have the trucks and cars broken up, when you pull up the trucks are all classed on the left, and the cars are classed on the right. Both sides of the road where packed, and there was spectators everywhere.
The show went off without a glitch, they held the show all day and most people left around 5-630 when it began to rain pretty hard. We decided to go back to the hotels and get food. The hotels where packed with parties by the time we got there. I think we hit about 10 different parts and hung out with a bunch of clubs. I ended up at the Westley’s in for a while where Creative Style, and some other clubs were dragging the shit out of there trucks. This lasted for about 2 hours until the cops came down and said we had to get in the hotel, or get out. So we headed back to our hotel the Hampton Inn and brought the drag session back there. We met up with some of the guys from Down-N-Dirty, and Creative style and before long everybody was back to dragging there rides, and even some people doing some serious burnouts.
Sunday the judging went quick, all the rides were judged by around 12, and they had a drag contest on the main show strip. This year a lot of rides entered the drag/hi-low contest. It was a great turnout. The trophies were given out around 3 following the bikini contest.
I gotta give it to Phil Fowler and all the guys from Low Rollers, I’ve been going to this show for about the last 6 years and can say I’ve never had a bad time. For more info on this show, and later shows log on to www.lowrollers.com and be sure to check out there newly updated site. And if you’re in the area next year be sure to hit up this show, I promise you wont regret it.
