Chupacabras Rod and Kustom
Chupacabras Rod and Kustom
It was that time of the year for the local Chupacabras Rod and Kustom show in Garland, Texas. This year they moved locations to Blazers Bowling Alley for a larger venue. This isn’t your average car show. I can almost guarantee you won’t find a trailer within site. This is a show for the real hot rods, not your 6 figure, can’t be driven, rarely seen rods. Here you can come and appreciate all the hard work and time that goes into what hot rodding and car lovers used to be about.
This year’s show kept the pace moving with everything you could ask for, cars, vendors, pin strippers and even bowling. I was on a time schedule due to the work I had at my real job but I was definitely going to spend some time enjoying these vehicles. I started the evening off with trying to get as many pictures as I could before I got that dreaded page from work. Well about half way through I heard that beep and for the next 20 minutes I tried to ignore it but it just didn’t happen. I rushed through the show and made sure I checked over every vehicle, impressed as always.
When I was almost ready to leave my Pops reminded me of the vendors that were setup inside the bowling alley and at that moment I heard my wallet break. As I entered all you could see was hot rod paintings by Dennis McPhail, hair cuts being done by Robs Chop Shop, and an endless row of others showing off their proud works of art. This is my area; there is nothing I don’t love more than more stuff to add to my room of useless clutter.
If you haven’t had a chance to make it to the Chupacabras show in the Dallas area be sure you pencil it in for next year. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Until the next show I, Kevin McCanlies signing off.
