When you start checking out show schedules for the east coast, you'll normally run across the now famous Scr8pfest hosted by Pebble Pushers. This year really put this show on the map! A show that originally started as a one day show has now grown over the past couple years to a full weekend show. I've attended every show these guys have put on and have watched their turn out and quality grow like crazy. For those any where near Kannapolis, NC (right outside of Charlotte) you've heard of this show and if you've never attended it, you missed one of the best shows anywhere. My weekend started out early on the Saturday morning of the show when we packed up the cars and hit the road for our 2-hour drive to the show. Being I have no hatch space left anymore, we had to also take my wife's car in order to fit my tent, cleaning stuff and bags to stay the weekend. Just one those draw backs of having a custom car. LOL Once there it was straight to the local car wash, which directions were well marked by signs put up by the Pp crew. Now that the car was clean and ready to show, it was off to the show field. Pebble Pushers have always used the parking lot at the Fieldcrest Cannon stadium to hold the show. The spot works out perfect due to the fact that it's an all paved lot with plenty of room and enough places for all the games and for people to camp if they wanted. Once into the show site, the first thing I saw was a LONG row of campers and tents. Even though I missed Friday night's events around the campers this year, after hearing how much fun it was I think we'll be there early enough for them next year. This show is becoming one of the best camper friendly shows around. Then after turning into the show lot itself, it was like looking through the pages of magazines due to the quality of rides, which several had already had features. The lot was already filling up way beyond the amount it did any year in the past. Once parked and set up, it was time to make my rounds through all the venders and the Pusher staff who were handling the parking and judging. The list of venders was like a who's who list of east coast venders and shops. These include Autobahn, Drop 'em Wear, and even a booth for one of the top shops anywhere, Hellbent Customs (704-933-7194), which is ran by Rodney and Robbie who are also hard core members of Pebble Pushers. As the day went on there was plenty of stuff to do and things to see. They held several club games, which kept every one laughing and cheering. At the end of the day it became time grab a bite to eat and check into the hotel before all the night events began.

We took off to the local hooters with a few of the guys from Negative Camber and Ronny from Phlat Out Video Magazine. After we were all full, it was time to go back to the drag contest that Pebble Pushers has become known for. Unfortunately about the time the drag contest got good and running smooth, Mother Nature decided it was time for it to end so she opened the sky. Now when I say "opened" the sky, that's putting it lightly. By the time we got across the parking lot, it was coming down so hard you couldn't see 100 feet away. We managed to pick up out EZ-UP tent and work it over to a buddies Expedition and get out of the rain. No longer than we got in the truck and dried off and watched a few people doing donuts in the rain, it suddenly stopped. By this time the crowd cleared out (or so we thought), so we headed back to the hotel. Come to find out me wound up missing half the fun! LOL The rain cant even stop Pp's night events, it just pauses it! When we arrived back at the show early Sunday morning, the crew from Pp was already lining up the entries for the hydro and air competition as well as the burn out. After a little hopping, a few fires (which some were pre planned by Jamie Kelly's bed dancer) and a few car dancers, it was time for the hopper of all hoppers. When I first saw a gutted civic being pushed in the pit with no motor, no interior and 2 big air tanks strapped in the interior, I knew this was going to get good. After getting more than knee height of air and nearly deafening us with the chirp of the air valves and 1" airline, he finally quit when he broke a rear cylinder in 3 places. Then it was off to the burn out pit where it was an "all goes" contest. Everything from door dragging trucks, to bagged go carts to even a roll back decided to see how much smoke they could produce. Now that all the games and events of the weekend were over it was off to the awards ceremony. One of the coolest things in my opinion at the awards was the fact the "unfinished" awards were all primer. That and the fact that we all learned that Eric and Jonathan from Virginia decided to get married. (Inside jokeā¦. you'd had to had been there! LOL) If you're interested in attending any future Pebble Pushers events or are interested in anything about their club, check out www.PebblePushers.com for anything you need. Also, make sure that Scr8pfest VII is on your schedule for next year, I definatly wont miss it.Brandon BurrellSSM-XtrmLzNCXtrmLzNC@Charter.net
