Xtreme Summer Slam
This was the 2nd year for the guys from Beyond Extreme car club and performance audio to get together and host this show in Tyler TX. The turn out for the show was respectable for such a young show. As I walked around it looked like the crew had their stuff together and had everyone entertained while the show was going on. For anyone that was tired of the heat outside they could walk a few yards to the pavilions were most of the vendors/sponsors had booths set up. As for participants, Severed Ties had a good showing including Brian and Lisa Noon's newborn baby boy was making his car show début sporting his ST outfit. Along with the ST crew Relaxed Atmosphere was in attendance. Unfortunately I had to head out early Sunday and get back home, but from a phone call from a friend, it sounded like the awards, which included cash prizes turned out great. Now you know how the show was let me tell you about my weekend.
Planning on leaving out early Saturday morning I get a phone call about 7 o'clock from Mitch Henderson telling me about the party going on that I am missing, so needless to say I hopped in the caddy hit the beer store and I was on my way. After driving 2hrs and through BFE I arrived at the party, which was held at a local shop near the show, I met up with Mitch, Paco, Yuhoe, Andrew and several other SSM fans. As the hours and beers passed on it was time to head to Andrews house were his parents opened there doors and gave us a very warm welcome in there home. Following the warm welcome from his parents we found the swimming pool, were a few of us hung out till about 4 in the morning.
With a good nights sleep behind me it was time to get up and hit the show for a while. And after getting lunch and lost with Paco and the girls we were at the show. I soon separated from them and did my job of taking pics of all the cool cars/trucks that showed up. While walking around I hooked up with my old beer drinking buddy Phatfront were we shared a few beers and exchanged opinions on different vehicles. As soon as I was done with shooting the show I had time to talk to Kevin Cox, which made the drive from Oklahoma City with his Hacillac. With the show coming to a close it was time for me to find my hotel room and get prepared for the nights activities.
As soon as I got cleaned up I called Ronnie and got directions to clicks pool hall were we where suppose to meet up. Luckily Ronnie got in good with management and we received a few beers on the house and some free pool. Once we whore out our welcome we located the rest of the party crew and headed over to Andrews. While at Andrews we continued to drink and have a good time swimming and getting the ladies topless. As the fun came to an end I found my self-seeing blurry driving back to my hotel where I stayed up till about 5 am talking to the receptionist of the hotel about everything under the sun and learning how freaky some country girls can get.
Like I said earlier, Sunday morning I had to head home early so I didn't make it back to the show grounds. I would like to thank the guys of Beyond Extreme for putting me up in the hotel and allowing me to run around their show. This show was worth the trip and hopefully they will allow me to come back next year. So all those looking for a growing show in Texas, here it is, make sure you look it up next year and I hope I see yall there..
