When a club like Pebble Pushers can take over ANY show they attend, you can bet when they put on a show it's going to be great! If you've been a big show anywhere in the southeast, you've seen a few members of Pebble Pushers. They are normally the vehicles with the big crowd of people checking them out, trying to see what it takes to be the lowest or the best of show. Since these guys (and girls) know all about the showing side of car shows, they definatly know the putting on a show side of it. I've attended almost all of their shows, this years was their 5th show. This years show was held at the Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis, NC, which is a minor league ballpark. Being a non-chaptered club from the big city of Charlotte, North Carolina, they have all their members close by to handle the show. This year they all wore bright green shirts and you could spot them from across the show doing everything from judging to putting a stop to the motorcycle burnouts that were not permitted. There's nothing like seeing about 20 green shirts all run towards one spot at the same time!
I've hung out with the crew from Pebble Pushers (Pp) for a few years now, and knew I couldn't miss this years show. This is one club that knows what having a good time at shows is all about, so I knew their show would have the same vibe. I've been with Pp a bunch this year and we've done every thing from take over an Applebee's in Virginia to almost getting kicked out of Dicks at the beach (thanks to Garbage and his little ice bucket incident).
I only live about 2 hours away from the show so the family and me left out early Saturday morning to check out the show. When we pulled in to the show field, all you could see is a LONG line of Pebble Pusher rides lining the entrance road. After a quick trip to the registration tent and to chat with Robbie and Bubba who run the club, it was off to park with a few of my ///RA buddies who were already at the show. Once I wiped over the car, we took off to the games area of the show to check out the tug of war contest that had already started. One of the winning teams was a big crew from Negative Camber, who after winning decided it would be funny to "dump" the losing team on their butts. It was funny!! After making a few rounds around the show checking out all the detailed rides I could, it was off to grab a bite to eat before heading back to the show for the one of a kind Draggin contest that only Pebble Pushers could handle.
During the contest, a few of the Pp guys drug through (as an exhibition only) just to show the contestants how it "should be done". During the contest the one and only "Fuzzy", or as some of us know him, Rodney, made sure that between runs down the "drag" strip, the crowd was kept laughing and enjoying themselves. As soon as the Drag Contest was over, they broke out the famous "Hooter Meter" and let a few of the girls at the show find out if they were a 13" a 17" or a set of Dubs.
The next day at the show, there was a few more rides that showed up that weren't there on Saturday. One that stood out was the Xterra from Ultimate Audio that sported 16 TV's throughout the suv. Once all the final tallies were made and the Pp crew made their final decisions on all the best of awards, it was time for the trophies to be given out. It was a great show that will only get better. So the next time you hear about a Pebble Pushers show, make sure you mark it on your calendar to attend. You can get more info on up coming shows by finding a Pp ride at a show (just look for the crowd) or hit them up on the web at www.PebblePushers.com
