Anyone involved in car shows across the country has heard of the NOPI Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. People come from as far away as Canada and California to attend this show. Not only does this show have several vendor booths, most of them are the actual manufactures that bring out all their new parts to show off and sell. You can walk around the show all 3 days and still not see all the vehicles entered. There are always 5 or 6 thousand rides at NOPI, and over 75,000 spectators. The entry fee is probably the highest around at $75 to show and $20 a day to just walk around, but it always seems to grow every year. The show field is the infield of the Atlanta Motor Speedway and for the most part is packed bumper to bumper with custom show vehicles ranging from body dropped trucks, to full out import drag cars to even a few street rods. You name it it's at NOPI!I just went down for one day, knowing I would never see all I could, but its still worth the trip. For me, Atlanta is only about 3 hours away so a day trip wasn't that bad. I made the trip with one of my friends from Negative Camber, Wes Frisbee. We left about 6am on Saturday. Once we got off of the interstate in Atlanta, the road was packed with show rides on their way to the show. After nearly crashing into 2 cars that evidently had drivers on the influence of crack in the shows parking lot, we made our way into the show. First stop once we were in the show was to hook up with some of our hometown boys who were showing. Once we got up with them and hung out for a little while, it was time to try to take in the awe of all the cars packed into the racetrack infield. While walking around I finally got to meet some of the guys from the Florida chapter of Relaxed Atmosphere as well as a couple guys from the Missouri chapter.During the weekend there was everything from a hydro contest, burn out contest, bikini contest and hunk contest as well as a full out IASCA stereo contest. Even though Wes and I left Saturday afternoon, I still feel like we took in as much as we could. I had a couple of my friends who attended the show all 3 days take a few pictures so I could make sure I would get as much coverage as possible.Photos by: Brandon Burrell, Wes Frisbee, Terence Newber, and Glenn BentonBrandon Burrell aka: QWTSTARN///Relaxed Atmosphere (NC)QWTSTARN@Hotmail.com
