You know all of those subtle details that no one seems to notice whenever you build something? Imagine taking a brand new truck that was just released and immediately starting to cut it up, building a full blown custom and barely receiving any magazine coverage. Now imagine spending nearly two years on your second build of your new truck and turning it into a truck that was never actually built by Nissan, literally cutting the cab almost in half to create the world’s first Nissan Frontier “Irregular” Cab. Now imagine doing it so well that even Nissan employees at SEMA don’t even notice. Imagine tucking 24’s and 26’s on anything and having people still think that they are 22’s or smaller.
And now you know how Ron Perkins of Portland, Oregon has felt since buying the truck on Christmas Eve of 2004. Going to the local dealership in 2004, Perkins was looking to buy a new Frontier for a project truck. However, he began to hear rumors that a new body style was to emerge from Nissan from both the salesman and the internet. So Perkins waited, and then waited some more, adamant that he receives the very first one that comes off the truck.
Then on Christmas Eve, Santa delivered to him a brand new silver Nissan King Cab fresh from the factory with a nice $20,000 price tag. Almost immediately after buying the truck, Perkins began cutting it up.
