Pleasures Trucks and Compacts present the 11th Annual Slamboree to benefit American Diabetes Association. This year’s event was held again at the local university in Norman, Oklahoma. Pleasure’s is lucky to have access to this large parking lot with new blacktop and new lighting.Pops and I rolled into town late Friday afternoon. The whole trip from Texas my cell phone was blowing up with people that were already in town wanting to know where the party was going to be Friday night. Why they felt that I was going to be the one to get the party together I still do not know. Most people ended up at the hotel that was behind the Golden Corral. I don’t want to say what hotel it was because “Santa Clause” as Techy called him was getting upset at all the noise that, he said was going on in the parking lot. See we were not even in the parking lot, we were on the grass, yelling at the locals that were on their way to the main attraction of Norman, the Wal-Mart. Well shortly after we prank called “Santa Clause” about five of Norman’s finest showed up and let us know that drinking in public and being disorderly was not going to be tolerated in Norman. I asked one of the cops what he would charge me to lock up Techy, he said he could not do that, but that he could lock me up for free….so I passed on that deal. The next morning pops and I rolled out to the show around 10 to check it out. Apparently I did not get the memo, because everyone was already at the show. After I got registered and setup for the show, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and shoot some photos so I would not forget about it. I got one photo taken and the camera’s batteries died. The spares I had were at home, so Phlat Out Ronnie and Shine let me borrow their camera, and I got some photos taken before it got to hot. I am not one for unnesscary sweating. I think the Pleasures guys had the same ideas, cause they hopped in the golf carts and took off judging the show. At about 3 or 4 that afternoon, the Pleasure guys decided it would be a good idea to have some races. The first race was a 5-lap race on bicycles for 4 year olds. The catch was that after every race the “horse” as I called them had to drink a 12oz glass of cold whole milk. I think that most of the milk that went down the “horses” came back up. The next race was the same as the first, but instead of downing the milk, the “horses” had to down a beer. This was good times for sure. My “horse” would down his beer, then somewhere during every lap his beer was coming back up.

After the show on Saturday everyone headed to Lindsey Street for some cruising and a little dragging. Everyone left the show but the Pleasure guys. The Pleasure guys had golf carts and a wide-open parking lot that they were not going to let go to waste. The nasgolf carts were doing laps all over the place. Two of the guys found out that if your are driving in the woods that the trees will not get out of your no matter how much you want it to. After leaving the show we grabbed something to eat and headed up to Custom Concepts. Kevin Cox opened his shop up for anyone who wanted to come hang out, since there are not many places to hang out in Norman. On Sunday Pops and I got to the show again about 10. Sunday was a relaxing day at the show. The judges were done for the most part, and had the awards close to the time they said they were going to. The awards were one of the best things about the Pleasures show. Since the show is a benefit show, the guys wanted to save some money and they built all of the trophies themselves. The trophies are unlike any other show, which makes them cool. The best-off trophies are also unique. The guys had the best off personalized to the vehicle that won the trophy. For example the best-off interior award had a large picture of the trucks interior on the plaque. The best of show overall truck and car trophies were provided by Billet Accessories Direct. The Pleasures guys and gals definitely have their stuff together on how to throw a show. I would recommend this show to anyone who is close enough to make the trip to Norman. My only suggestion is that the show can get a little warm, and with the humidity it can make it very hot. I suggest that if you go you need to drink plenty of fluids. Just ask Jon (Pleasuresburban), he knows what I am talking about, Right Jon?By Andrew "Ballpark" Adams
