Wow… Another year is over. It seems like yesterday everyone was in a frenzy about the Y2K bug and how everything was going to shut down. People stocked their homes with plenty of canned items and gas grills preparing for the worst. And look where we are now… 2001. As we move into 2001, I have to sit back and think about the things that happened in 2000. First and foremost, had to be Street Source Magazine. When Garrick and myself talked about the magazine in the beginning, I knew it was a good idea. I knew Kris was the perfect person to build the site and I knew Garrick could mastermind what it would take to make it happen. When I was asked to help out, I knew it was a perfect opportunity to use some of the journalistic skills I had acquired from school many years ago. I just never imagined it would turn into something this big. I’m very happy that it has. The shows were another thing to remember from Y2K. I attended so many this year and met so many people it’s hard to even begin. So, I’ll just give you the finer points. Cruisefest in Dayton, Ohio was a wild one. Everyone partied like there was no tomorrow. To be honest, I’ve never been in one place where so many people were getting naked either. Haha. Oh yeah, make sure you check out the bikini contest at this one. You’ll thank me later. Slammin’ N Jammin’ in Lebanon, Tennessee was kind of like a homecoming for me. I was one of the people who started it many many years ago. It’s nice to see this show still alive and kicking. This is where I shot my first feature for SSM, as well as my first cover, Mike Rash’s clean S-10 with the lovely Lora Manning posing beside it. It was a great weekend. Next was the Minitruckin’ Nationals in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Garrick flew in for this one to help me cover it. Haha. I made sure his visit was complete from the very beginning at the airport. Nothing like being treated to pranks as soon as you arrive in a new City. Haha. It was a great weekend. Our whole crew stayed at the same hotel. Garrick and I kicked it all weekend with our fellow club members and newfound friends that we met that weekend. We shot some hella cool rides and met some hella cool people. I think this was my favorite year being in Pigeon Forge. It was a great weekend.

Slam Session in Paducah, Kentucky was next on my agenda. This show is the “Texas Heat Wave alternative” and a good one it is. Rich and the crew from Priority One put on a good one. My crew was there too, in full force, so it was a good weekend. Indy Truck Bash in Indianapolis, Indiana is by far my favorite. This is, for me, the mecca of car and truck shows on the east coast. I have more fun at this event than any other I attend, every single year. This year was no exception. I met tons of really cool people, got to shoot some really nice rides and two of my club’s girls placed in the bikini contest. Can’t wait for this one already and 2001 just started! Last for me was NOPI Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. Over 5,000 rides and me. Need I say more? I was a busy, busy boy. But hey, I got the job done and even got to shoot Dave Shulman’s kick-ass Ford F150 for the cover. A few other things happened in 2000 that were worth mentioning. I finally made some progress on my own project truck. It can now be seen every month in the Fender Bender International ad. I met a very special person who makes me happier and happier everyday I’m with her. My good friend David Caldwell and his wife had their first child a few days before Thanksgiving also. And of course, last, but certainly not least, I met some really cool people throughout the year. And because of you, I only have one New Year’s Resolution – to bring you the best coverage and the best features that I can from the hottest shows happening. Happy New Year!
